FUTURE OF TEST CRICKET

It’s obvious that the importance of test cricket is going down by taking the fact that India is going to play only 4 tests in the coming year.ICC needs to think about the matter seriously to save test cricket. I think the number of sponsors will really go down for test cricket in the coming years compared to the other shorter versions of the cricket. Something has to be done in test cricket so that every match comes out with a result. It’s because of the poor scoring rate and five days of the game that test cricket is boring. I feel that if ICC could bring in some power plays and free hits the situation will become better. Otherwise this version of cricket will soon be a history.

ANOTHER YEAR

Its going to be the end of another year and a yet another year is going to start. .I wonder how fast years are going. I still feel that it’s not too long when I think of my lower primary school days. Time is going so fast that no matter whether we are engaged with something or simply sitting alone, still time is always going fast. I would like to make each and every second of the coming year very useful and I don’t want to waste time any more. I think the life span of a man is very short. God has created all of us with a purpose and so we should always make it sure that we are doing what is to be done. FEEDING WITH BRINE SHRIMPS

Nowadays I am feeding my young guppies and swordtails with baby brine shrimp. I have learned that there is no other better food than baby brine shrimps for baby fishes, especially for the first two weeks from their birth. Their high protein content makes young fishes grow faster. I think the fishes really love the taste of brine shrimps because whenever I feed my fishes with baby brine shrimps they go crazy after it. So I have understood that baby brine shrimp is the best and safe food for young fishes. I am breeding a lot of hifin swordtails at my home now. I expect to get some good quality fishes within some months.

55ft LONG GIANT SNAKE

This giant snake was found dead in a forest in china. It was about 55 ft long .Actually the workers in the forest unintentionally killed it while they were digging the earth. The workers ran away because of fear when the injured snake lifted its body. Later when they came back they found this snake dead with its huge mouth wide open. This snake has really been a sensation to the whole world. Those workers might have never seen a creature like that before other than from films. What would have been their state of mind when they first saw it.? It’s really an unbelievable snake.

INDIA WON THE FIRST ODI

India clinched a three run victory against srilanka in the first odi played at rajkot.Like all matches played in batting friendly wickets this was also a high scoring match with both teams scoring above 400.At last srilanka fell short by 3 runs which gave India a thrilling victory. One fact which is really exciting besides the form of dilshan and sehwag is the form of sangakkara.Nowadays he is scoring at a strike rate of over 150 in almost every match. I had never seen him play like this before. There are four more odi’s left in the series. I think we will see a lot of fire works from the batting side in the coming matches. I would really like to see yuvraj playing in the next match because he is my favorite player.

LOST MY ANGELFISH EGGS

I lost my angel fish eggs once again today. I thought of removing the eggs from the parents today morning, but couldn’t do it since I was a little busy today. I didn’t expect the eggs to be eaten even though the angel fish parents were in a community tank just because of the fact that there were no other big fishes in the tank and the angel fish could easily protect their eggs from the small fishes. But I never thought that the sucker catfish in my tank would be a threat for the eggs and that’s exactly what happened today evening. The sucker catfish sucked the eggs which were laid along a plastic pipe .I think it’s just because of the poor vision of the parents in the dark that enabled the catfish to eat the eggs. It’s really unfortunate to loose the eggs in this way. Hopefully, I will get all the eggs hatched next time without any problem by taking some special care.

THAT BUFFET DINNER

We water our mouth often, when we think of buffet dinners. I recently went for a buffer dinner when I was extremely hungry. The expectations of the delicious dishes for the buffet really sharpened my hunger before going for the dinner. Although I went for the dinner with the expectation that I could eat huge amounts of food; all I could manage was some good dishes before I started loosing my appetite. I was really sad because after paying a big amount of money for the dinner I couldn’t eat much. Also when I saw many other people eating continuously for about an hour, I felt irritated. It’s something which happens to me every time I taste different varieties of dishes. It can be really sad when we pay a big amount of money for a buffet and couldn’t capitalize on it. In my case it may be because I am a small man with an even smaller stomach. So there after I understood that its more like a wastage of money rather than having some good dishes of food when I go for buffet dinner. Does this post seem to be funny to you? Then please comment with your experiences about buffet dinners.

CLASSIC STYLE IS GOING AWAY FROM CRICKET

It was a totally different vvs laxman in the last airtel champions leagueT20 cricket match that the Deccan chargers played.Laxman is always known for his classic style of batting and wrist work. He is a player who always plays his shots along the ground and through the gaps. Aggression is not something that we associate with his batting. But in the last match he was really trying to be aggressive with every ball he played .He was really trying to muscle the ball and he played a lot of lofted shots which was really unusual for him. I think the pressure of scoring quickly in T20 matches has forced even the most classic players to change their style. In modern days cricket it’s obvious that classic players are going unnoticed and especially in T20 cricket no team likes a player to be too much classic. I really wonder what the future of test cricket will be with lots of T20 matches played every year. I am sure that in the coming years of cricket we are unlikely to see too many classic cricketers.

PERFUMES CAN REALLY ACT FOR YOU

Perfumes always provide us great means to make ourselves attractive. I often use scents just to make myself feel fresh. When we use a perfume it’s important that the scent which it gives off is enjoyable rather than irritating. I like perfumes which retain its sweet scent even after sweating ourselves a lot. Recently while I was surfing through the net to buy perfumes I found a variety of exciting perfumes in the site www.scent.net .Their wide range of perfumes and colognes tempted me to buy some from them. Even during sexual relationship partners like to provide each other with a good scent. So I personally believe that using a good perfume can add quite a bit to our personality.

SMOKELESS TOBACCO IS NEVER SAFE

One of my friends stopped smoking recently and started using smokeless tobacco as a substitute. One reason he has for that is ‘smokeless tobacco is far less harmful than cigarettes’. Nowadays he is using one packet of tobacco pouches daily.Anyway,I never have the opinion that smokeless tobacco products are safe. They can also have other bad effects to our health even though they don’t damage our lungs. Am I right? It’s a pity that even school children are using these kinds of tobacco pouches in our country. There is an unfair advantage in using tobacco pouches and that is no one will recognize a man using tobacco pouches since it is completely hidden under the lips. I really want my friend to stop using this but he thinks that if any problem arises due to tobacco pouches his gum will show early signs like white spots and so by that time he can stop it. Isn’t it funny? To any youngster who has the misconception that smokeless tobacco is safe, my advice to you is that these products can also cause respiratory infections and may even cause mouth cancer with prolonged usage.

ALBINO RED EYE

It’s been a year since I had been breeding albino red eye guppies. One thing I understood about them is that they are not easy to raise as the other varieties of guppies. In my experience albinos take a much longer period to reach adulthood from their birth. Even after feeding them with worms which contain high fat content they are not growing so fast as the other guppies. Also a good percentage of them die during the first stages of their life. I don’t know whether other people who raise them are also experiencing this problem. I used to take special care by placing the females which are about to give birth separately in a planted tank so that I can get all the babies without being eaten. one fact I learned from the internet about albino guppies is that they are born blind which makes them easy to be eaten by their parents. Any way I don’t want to stop breeding them since they are very attractive and have comparatively high market value.

CHAMPIONS TROPHY CRICKET

It’s very sad that team India is really struggling to enter the semifinals in champions trophy cricket 2009.With the match against Australia being washed out because of the rain the chances are that the team is going out of champions trophy. Now the situation is that India need to beat west Indies in their coming match by a big margin and also Pakistan should beat Australia which seems rather unlikely to happen. I am a big fan of the stylish left hander yuvraj and India is really missing him in champions trophy. He is the greatest strength for the Indian middle order and without him I feel a little bored to watch champions trophy cricket.i feel that we miss a lot of action with the absence of the two magnificent strikers in world cricket, yuvraj and sehwag.ofcourse the injury to zaheer khan too had really affected the team. What will happen in the match against West Indies? We will wait and see.

BEAR ATTACK

This is what happens when wild animals attack. The man on the picture was attacked by a polar bear. He and his friends were sleeping in a tent when the bear entered the tent. I have many other pictures of this man inflicted by fatal wounds in his body parts. But I think it should not be shown here because it’s really horrible to watch. The bear really attacked his head tearing off the top portion of his head and his leg was really crushed. Some how his friends managed to kill the bear and save his life, but not before getting badly wounded. So whenever you are in a forest with any wildlife expedition beware that wild animals are never to be taken lightly. They are born with wild instincts and even if you try to keep one of them at your home giving it all your love, you are never safe. The animals can never be blamed for this because it’s their nature

FLOWERHORN

Flowerhorn cichlids are a special variety of cichlids known for the hump on their heads. They can be called as aquatic bulls with their aggressive nature and distinctively shaped head. Like many exciting varieties of aquatic fishes that we see to day flowerhorns are also man made hybrids. Their market value varies with the size of the hump, larger the hump; higher will be the price. They are territorial fishes and it’s not that easy to pair cichlids. They eat a large variety of foods and you won’t have any problems in making them eat. Even though young flowerhorn cichlids are much cheaper than adults, the problem is that you won’t know what type of color it will exhibit as it grows big.

AQUARIUM CARE

If you are keeping your aquarium outside your house, one thing you should take care is that your aquarium should have a proper covering. One of the main reasons for having a proper covering is due to dragon flies. Most dragon flies lay their eggs in water .You might have seen dragon flies jumping in and out of your aquarium touching the surface of the water, if you are having a fish pond outside. Actually these dragon flies are laying their eggs by doing so. When these eggs hatch there is every chance that the larvae attack the small baby fishes in the aquarium for their food. Baby fishes of guppies and swordtails are very small by birth which makes them ideal prey for these dragon fly larvae. So it’s always good to have a covering on top of your aquarium if you are having one outside. This will prevent dragon flies and other unwanted insects from interacting with the aquarium.

MILD EARTHQUAKE

A mild earthquake was experienced here in kerala at 6 45 in the evening. I was sitting in front of the television when I felt the vibration of the earth. My grandmother who was resting in her bed at that time asked me whether somebody is moving her bed. This is the first time that I had experienced an earthquake, even though it is a mild one. Pigeons are known to be very sensitive to earth quakes and tsunamis. Their legs are very sensitive that they can even detect the slightest vibrations of the earth very early.

LAILATHULQADIR

I spend the whole night with prayers and dikirs last night without sleep in the mosque.Yes,it was the twenty seventh night of Ramadan and it’s the night which is most likely to be the night of lailathulqadar out of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan.lailathulqadar is the most blessed night in the month of Ramadan. It’s the night when Muslims all over the world try to be at the mosque entirely dedicated to god. So I was at a mosque which is quite far away from my home area and I was accompanied by a large group of my friends. Some of my friends couldn’t resist sleeping late night, but still I tried my level best to make them awake. The month of Ramadan is coming to an end and there are only three more fasting days left.

MY FRIEND'S FATHER

My friend’s father has a big craze towards aquarium fishes. He spends a lot of money buying costly aquarium fishes. he too have a pets corner of his own where he sells a lot of fishes .He is a great aquarium hobbyist from his age of seven. According to him’ if someone starts an aquarium with the intention of business alone then its only going to be a loss ,but if it is taken with the real love for fishes, then even if it is not profitable it won’t hurt’. He is really concentrating on swordtail fish breeding now and he expects himself to get into the Guinness book of records by breeding many different varieties of swordtails. No matter whether he is busy with other things or not, he will always have time to spend with his fishes.

FEEDING

Every night I used to kill some mosquitoes during my sleep and the next morning I could see them dead in my bed. An interesting fact is that I never waste these dead mosquitoes; instead I use them to feed my betta fish kept in a small glass bowl in my room. Nowadays he is really enjoying eating them. Every time I go near his glass bowl he expects that I am coming with dead mosquitoes and so he comes to the surface of the glass bowl. As a result now he is very reluctant to eat the other tinned foods. Anyway I am not planning to get mosquito bites anymore and I want to get rid of them. So I need to find some mosquito larvae as a substitute for dead mosquitoes to feed my betta fish. He is really growing fast and has a good appetite.

THAT UNITY

This incident happened Years before when I was studying in my tenth standard. I studied in a boys only class that time and so we were all always united and helping to each other. One afternoon while my teacher was writing on the blackboard one of my friends fired a cracker in the teacher’s table. It cracked loudly and before the teacher turned back he ran to his seat. Actually she couldn’t find who did it. But somehow she suspected my friend and asked him to go out of the class and she threatened him telling that he will be dismissed from the school. At once the whole class including my self stood up and said ‘it’s we who did it and it’s not him’. Our teacher was completely helpless against our unity and so our friend was saved.

TODAY

I just got up after a very long sleep of over 11 hours. May be because of the long sleep, I am still feeling sleepy and out of mood. The climate here is extremely cold and still tempting me to go to bed. It was really pouring heavily last night. Anyway, I am planning to go to my friend’s house which is twenty kilometers from here. The main problem is that my bike is not in good condition and nowadays it’s really behaving badly. So I want to go in my brother’s bike. The house which I am about to go is in a remote area between a lot of rubber trees. I always like being there because its one of the few houses that I had seen, where we can enjoy the beauty of nature sitting at the house itself. My friend is staying there alone for many days and so he is desperate for company. He has been calling me for many days and so definitely I want to go there today.

CATFISHES

Catfishes are one of the most adaptable fishes. Most of them can live even in extremely poor oxygen conditions. They are bottom feeders and eat many kinds of food and other wastes seen in the bottom. Most catfishes have tough skin and are generally peaceful fishes. Some catfishes are designed to move through the land in search of water. In the wild during drought conditions catfishes move through the land to find water to sustain their life. But that’s the time when they are very vulnerable to many birds which prey on fish. Any fish seen in the land is an easy picking for a bird. Catfishes like sucker catfishes are seen in most aquariums and they live very comfortably with other type of fishes. Their name comes from the fact that the barbels around their mouth look like a cat’s whiskers. Most species of catfishes take care of their eggs and some are even known to look after their young.

NILE CROCODILE

Nile crocodiles are one of the largest crocodiles in the world. Once a prey falls within their range it’s very hard to escape from their jaws of death. Crocodiles are called as ancient reptiles. Nile crocodiles always try to attack any animal that is seen in their river bank. Every year when the migrating herds of animals cross the river banks in search of vegetation these crocodiles will get the opportunity for a very big feast. Although they are fierce looking creatures their maternal instincts are strong. Mothers take their newly hatched babies very gently in the mouth to release them to the water. It will take about fifteen years for a baby crocodile to get big enough to tackle a wildebeest. During the first stages of their life insects constitute their major diet. Adult male crocodiles are sometimes known to eat the newly hatched baby crocodiles from their nest.Should you wish to learn more, Phoenix College offers online courses in zoology, embryology, veterinary medicine, and other related disciplines.

THAT FRIENDLY FIGHT

A friendly fight can sometimes turn to a serious violent fight. These things are likely to happen in any ones life. I had a fight with one of my friends in a beach some days before. It was very much like a friendly fight before I got a nasty blow on my stomach unintentionally from him. The pain of that blow forced me to give him a slap on his face and immediately the situation got worse. Soon the rest of our friends intervened in the matter and that prevented both of us from getting badly injured. After the fight I felt really bad and I came back to my home. It’s always a sad feeling when friends fight each other for no reason. After thinking a lot about the matter at my home I realized that if I could resist beating him after I got that unintentional blow at that time, then the situation would not have been that much worse. That night I called him in his telephone and we talked a lot consoling each other. So now I am very happy to inform you that we are good friends again.

MY MOLLY FISH

One of the female black molly fishes in my aquarium gave birth today. Surprisingly, there are more than forty babies. This is the first time that a molly fish in my aquarium giving birth to over forty babies. She was heavily pregnant last night and I expected her to deliver soon. So I carefully separated her from the rest of the fishes to a small planted tank. Most of the baby fishes are pure black in color and some of them are having white spots. Mollies usually give birth to bigger babies compared to other livebearers and my black molly is also not different. She has been in my aquarium for more than two and a half years and within this time she had given birth many times.

WILD BOAR

Wild boar hunting is enjoyed as a great sport in many parts of Britain. About three hundred years ago these boars were extinct in Britain. After that they were reintroduced from many other countries. But now they are again facing the threat of extinction in Britain due to over hunting. Wild boars belong to the pig family and are very aggressive in nature. Hunters usually head off to hunting riding their horses and accompanied by a large number of dogs. The duty of the dogs is to chase the boars and attack them. After exhausting the boars the dogs move off keeping a safe distance from the boar, this allows the hunter to shoot the boar. Wild boars have been blamed for destroying agricultural fields and spreading many diseases. In some cases the hunted boars are just offered as food to the dogs and such hunters have no special reason for hunting them other than as a sport. They are also hunted for meat by many hunters. Adult wild boars are known to kill tigers and wolves in self defense. They have been also known to kill many hunters who failed to shoot them at the right time during the hunt. These animals are really endangered in many parts of the world.

MONTH OF RAMADAN

Its two days since the month of Ramadan has started. Like all years before I am going to be fully dedicated to god this month. I feel a little lazy to wake up early in the morning to have my food after which the fasting starts. The last two days fasting was not much tiresome, may be because I didn’t go out for any work. I hope I could go regularly for the late evening prayers this time also. My whole family except my grandmother is going to fast for this month. My grandma can’t fast as she is too old and weak to do it. After the late evening prayers I used to be with my friends in the mosque. These prayers are called as tarawhee. It’s really a different feeling avoiding food, water and many desires from dawn until dusk for a month.

CHOICE OF FISHES FOR AN AQUARIUM

The type of fishes that you choose for your aquarium is a very important matter before setting an aquarium. Most beginners don’t have a clear idea about the type of fishes which lives well with their aquarium. It’s always good to start with less expensive fishes. If you go with expensive fishes, as beginners you may not know whether they are comfortable with your aquarium or whether they are having any signs of weakness and so if the fishes die because of inadequate care then it will be a big loss of money for you. When you choose fancy goldfishes for your aquarium you should ensure that there are no other small fishes in your tank which have the habit of disturbing these fishes. Some fishes like barbs and mollies which are relatively small in size have the habit of irritating and nipping the fins of fishes having long flowing fins. These small fishes always get attracted to the striking colors and long fins of goldfishes and so they may keep on nipping their fins which may eventually turn to the death of these goldfishes. Also if you are having swordtail fishes then it’s good to have a proper covering on top of your aquarium because swordtails are excellent jumpers. Angel fishes are very efficient in stalking and so if you put them in a community tank then other baby fishes are likely to be eaten by them even if those baby fishes hide between aquatic plants. Catfishes like sucker catfishes feed on the excretory wastes of other fishes and so you can use them as natural cleaners. Aquatic fishes like guppies, mollies, platies and swordtails are the best fishes if you are a beginner because they are easy to care and are relatively inexpensive.

LIVING IN A PRIDE

Wild animals which live as a group get some significant advantages compared to other animals. Being in a pride lions doesn’t face any big threats. When a solitary hunter like a cheetah or a tiger gets injured it won’t be able to hunt and will most probably starve to death if the injury won’t get healed within some days. But when a lion within a pride gets injured, it will be allowed to take a share from the kill made by the other members and so it won t have any problems filling its stomach. When lions hunt they act as one and that’s why they are able to kill huge sized prey animals. Lions are even known to bring down adult elephants. Lionesses within a particular pride will be closely related and so the cubs in the pride will be allowed to suckle from all the mothers in the pride. The dominant male lion which is the leader of the pride don’t take part in the hunting process most often. He may seem to be lazy, but it’s when the tranquility of the pride breaks that the male lion shows his real strength. He is the one who protects the entire pride from other intruder lions and he is the one who kills hyenas which are the biggest enemies of lions. A good pride will always be well fed and the cubs in the pride will have a high chance in reaching adulthood. It’s because of this team work that the lions are the most dominant and powerful predators

SWORDTAIL FISHES

Swordtail fishes are one of the most loved aquatic fishes. They are called swordtails because of the sword like extension of the tail found in male swordtails. However females have normal tails. They are excellent community fishes and are found in wide range of colors like red, green, white, purple ,black etc.other varieties like pineapple swordtails, hifin swordtails are also available. Blood red swordtail fishes are really exciting to watch because of their eye capturing coloration.Lyretail swordtails having double sword like structures on their tail and hifin swordtails having long fins have high commercial value. Swordtail fishes love planted aquarium and they enjoy being in a large group. When you keep three or four in a small tank one male usually becomes dominant among the other males and he can really hurt the others, by maintaining a large number the aggression gets shared. Male swordtails use their sword like tails to attract mates and also to fight with other males. They really love eating tubifex worms and flake foods. Platy fishes are closely related to swordtails and are known to mate with swordtails. Swordtails are generally easy to care and are excellent fishes for beginners

FANTAILS

I bought a pair of fantail pigeons yesterday. Both of them are pure white in color and are stunning to watch. I have a wooden cage for them and they seem to be very satisfied with their new home. I wish I could breed many fantail pigeons with this pair and I am really enjoying watching them every time. It will take some time before they get used to the new conditions and I am sure that slowly and steadily we will be in good company. The female pigeon seems to have a good appetite; she is taking food as much as I give her. The male always moves close to her and he is very watchful of his mate. They should be given good care since they are very different from ordinary pigeons

AQUATIC PLANTS

It’s very important to set some plants in an aquarium. Aquatic plants offer the fishes with food and oxygen. To maintain the plants in a healthy state its best to keep the aquarium in a place where there is adequate light. Like all plants aquatic plants take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. So in some aquariums carbon dioxide pumps are used to provide them with adequate carbon dioxide. When an aquarium is well planted newly born baby fishes will have plenty of hiding places and this will save them from being eaten by other fishes. Planting aquatic plants in a glass tank adds to the beauty of an aquarium greatly. Live bearing aquatic fishes love planted aquariums while fishes like gold fishes and carps eat these plants in large amounts so in presence of these fishes some aquatic plants may be harmed. Many fishes lay their eggs on the leaves of these plants and so if you want your fishes to lay eggs your aquarium should be properly planted.

HYENA

Hyenas are one of the most cunning and excellent opportunists in the wild. A hyena spots weakness in a prey animal earlier than any other predator does. They never miss a chance for an easy meal and will try any means to fill their stomach including stealing other predator’s kill. There is a great hatred between lions and hyenas, with team work hyenas can be a big threat to lions. Their jaws are designed for superior crushing strength and can completely feed on a carcass including the toughest bones. So they are one of the nature’s greatest cleaners. A pack of hyenas will be led by a dominant female called the matriarch. The matriarch and her offspring will have high privileges in the pack. Male lions kill hyenas whenever they get an opportunity and hyenas also attack lions when they have the advantage. Hyenas are highly adaptable since they can hunt and scavenge. Hyenas are sometimes called laughing animals because of the laugh like strange sounds that they make.

GUPPY

Guppies are one of the most popular aquarium fishes. They are known for the brilliant coloration of male guppies. Females are less attractive and usually grow to larger size than males. They are excellent fishes for beginners and most people enjoy breeding them since they give birth to over 20 babies in every 3 to 4 weeks. They are found in a wide range of colors and varieties and through selective breeding magnificent varieties of guppies are being produced. There is an international association for guppy breeders called the international fancy guppy association. These small fishes are really loved by most aquarists and many small children take it as a hobby breeding guppies. Its best to keep these fishes as a group and with a 20 L aquarium about 10 guppies can be kept easily. It’s best to keep lesser number of males as compared to females. Guppies eat a variety of foods like flakes and worms. They really love eating live tubifex worms and that’s the best food if you want your guppies to grow faster. Guppies can be released in small ponds and wells where mosquitoes are likely to breed, so that the guppies will eat all the mosquito larvae.

CAPE BUFFALO

African buffaloes are also known as cape buffaloes. Their massive size and aggressive nature makes it very hard for predators to hunt them. Other than lions they don’t have any big enemies. Lions usually hunt them together as it is not possible for a single lion to bring down an adult buffalo. They are known to be extremely unpredictable which makes them very different from their Asian counterparts. They kill more people in Africa than any other animal does and because of this aggressive nature these buffaloes cannot be domesticated. Cape buffaloes move as a well packed herd with a dominant male leading the herd and the calves will be shielded by the adults. Lions usually hunt them by separating the herd and isolating one of them. Even if they become separated during hunts they organize soon and will try to rescue a member that has been caught. They have been known to inflict fatal injuries to lions, which makes it very risky for any predator to hunt them.

ENDANGERED

There are many animals in our world which are facing the threat of extinction. The cheetah is one among them. Destruction of natural habitat is the main cause for the decline of population of many animals. But in the cheetah’s case other wild animals are also a big cause for the threats they are facing. Lions kill cheetah cubs without hesitation whenever they find them. Other predators like hyenas also hunt cheetah cubs if possible.Although the cheetah is the fastest land animal it is very inferior to most of the big cats and other predators in terms of physical strength. A full grown cheetah can never defend its cubs against a lioness and if within range even adult cheetahs are easily killed by lions. This seemingly cruel act may be because the lions don’t want any competition in hunting for prey. Most of the cheetah hunts are successful because of their superior speed but the prey that they killed can be easily snatched away by lions or hyenas. Efforts are done by many organizations like raising them in captivity, protecting them against poachers etc to improve their population.

BETTA

The Siamese fighting fish which is also called as Betta is always known for its brilliant coloration and long fins. They are found in many colors and varieties. As the name suggests male bettas are fierce fighters. A betta seems to be very calm when he lives with other types of fishes in an aquarium. But it’s when you put two males together in a tank that he shows his real fighting nature. A fight between two male bettas will only end with one’s death. A male betta may be a deadly fighter, but he is a good father too, because after spawning with a female he is the one who protects the eggs. A male betta usually likes to live a solitary life. They are easy to keep since a male betta requires only a small container of water and these fishes can live even in poor oxygen conditions. Many people enjoy their fights and making these fishes fight is taken as a sport in some countries.

LIGER

A liger is the offspring of a male lion and female tiger. Ligers can be bred only in captivity since lions and tigers live in different regions in the wild. A liger is much larger than both of its parents. , actually the liger is the largest cat in the world. Most of them weigh more than 500 kilos. From the image itself we can understand how massive this cat is. They have the color almost similar to a lion with light stripes in its body. Ligers would be stunning if they are released in the wild. But its character, that is whether it lives socially as its father or as a solitary hunter like its mother is unknown. Also because of its massive size a liger will find it very hard to generate good speed and as a result most of their hunts will end in failure. So scientists believe that ligers can live only in captivity.

LIVEBEARERS

Live bearers are fishes that give birth to fully developed free swimming babies.Platies, swordtails, guppies and mollies are some of the common colorful live bearing aquatic fishes. They are ideal fishes for beginners. Many aquarists enjoy breeding them and even small children can raise them easily. An interesting fact about live bearers is that it’s very hard to stop them from breeding. They give birth in every 3 to 4 weeks, but the parents won’t take any role in caring for their babies and may even try to eat them. So it’s best to keep these fishes in a well planted aquarium. These small fishes are very active and are always wonderful to watch. Anyone with a small tank can easily raise them. Since the males of these fishes always chase females trying to mate, it’s best to keep lesser number of males as compared to females. Otherwise they won’t give the females any rest. Female live bearers are capable of giving birth 3 or 4 times even after a single mating.

BLACK MAMBA

We all know that snakes are venomous and deadly. Normally snakes attack humans to save their lives. There is a snake in Africa called as black mamba. It’s one of Africa’s most feared and dangerous snakes. Most Africans have many stories to tell about black mambas. Can u imagine a snake which chases u and attack? These black mambas are known for that. They are really aggressive when threatened and will straightly go for the attack. There are many strange stories related to black mambas like getting into houses and attacking each and everyone in the house, chasing people for long distances and so on. But there are no solid evidences for all these things. They have been blamed for many deaths in Africa .Anyway, I had never seen a black mamba and if I get an opportunity to see one, I would like to check whether they have this strange behavior.

My ride

It’s always enjoyable to ride a motorbike through highway roads, especially when the climate is cold and with light showers. At the same time roads can also be slippery with rain. . I like bike riding very much. Once when I was riding my bike through the highway a dog suddenly jumped across my way and before I could apply brake the bike hit the dog and I lost my balance completely. Luckily I was not injured. First I thought, that was the end of the poor dog. But the dog just got up after the encounter and ran to the other side of the road and then I saw him watching me from a fair distance. May be he was wondering whether I was injured. I was really surprised because even after hitting it with good speed the dog didn’t seem to have even the slightest pain.

RHINO

A rhinoceros is often called as rhino. These huge animals seem to be calm in nature, but they are extremely unpredictable and are known to charge at anything without provocation. As adults lions are rarely known to bring down rhinos. It’s always really funny to watch elephants and rhinos quarrel each other when they come close in search of vegetation and water. Once I even saw a small rhino trying to be aggressive against an elephant. Normally young rhinos are quite in nature, but this one was like a fire bull.

my angel fishes

I have a pair of angel fishes in my big fish tank. Their tank mates include other big fishes like carps and catfishes. A week before the pair laid some eggs on the leaves of some water plants. Angel fishes are extremely protective for their young and both my angel fishes took care of their eggs. But within a few days the big carps in my tank understood that there were some eggs along the water plants . My poor angel fishes tried their level best to protect their eggs, but they couldn’t defend their eggs against the big carps and the eggs were completely eaten. I felt really sorry for my angelfishes because before I could do any help all their eggs were lost.

That shameful incident

Once during my first year college life I accidentally fell into a small sewage besides the road leading to my college. It was a rainy day and the whole place was filled with water. After getting up myself from the fall I found two girls laughing at me and the volume of their laugh increased when they saw me spitting some water which got into my mouth during the fall. I felt really ashamed and embarrassed and within no time I escaped from there in my bike.

The leopard

A leopard is often called as the master of ambush. This is because of the fact that a leopard hunts it prey by surprise.Even though they are the smallest of the four big cats they have superior abilities than the other big cats. A leopard can drag a killed prey even twice its own size up to the tree tops. This ability helps them to keep their prey safe from other predators like hyenas and lions. They are elegantly built and have powerful claws which make this beautiful animal a magnificent predator

PUNISHED THAT BRUTAL CAT

This incident happened 5 years back when I had a lot of pigeons at my home. They were of many Colors like white, black spotted, grey and brown. They all lived in complete harmony before one morning when I found four of my pigeons brutally killed. One of them was fully eaten and then another one with its head missing and the remaining two were simply dead, may be those two were killed by blows at their heads. I was really sad on seeing my pigeons dead and I didn’t have any clue about the culprit of this brutal act. Then that evening when I was having my tea, I heard the sound of my pigeons flying away together. I immediately ran to the place where their cages were kept and I couldn’t find any predator there, but all the pigeons looked frightened and they were reluctant to come back from the tree tops even after calling them by offering food. Then as I looked through the cages I found one dark cat hiding inside one cage. I realized that he is the one who killed my pigeons that morning and once again he has made the attempt. But this time the pigeons flew away and so he sat at the cage expecting that the pigeons could come back at any time. Then as he tried to escape, he was well within my reach and I gave him some nasty blows with a stick at his legs. I was really delighted about the fact that I could punish him, but felt really sorry when I saw him with a broken leg after some days. There after he never made an attempt to attack my pigeons

my fishes

I have two fish tanks in my courtyard. One of them is a large one and the other a smaller concrete tank. In the larger tank I have a lot of big fishes like gold fishes, carps and catfishes. They really consume large Quantities of food daily. Every morning and evening I used to spend a lot of time with these fishes. Over the years we had become good friends. In my smaller tank I have some good varieties of swordtail fishes like hifin swordtails, white swordtails and Belgium swordtails. Months before I bought a female swordtail from a nearby aquarium .she was red in color with some black patches. During the early days of her life in my tank she looked very much like a female swordtail fish and other males were after her. But after a few weeks I noticed that she developed some male characters .she started chasing away other males. First I thought that this may be because she is a strong female. Then I was surprised to see her trying to mate with other females. I was really amazed by her behavior. After some days I talked about this matter to a nearby aquarist and he said that swordtails have this character of changing sexes. Any way this is the first time that I am having a fish which exhibits bisexual behavior. I wondered if humans also had these types of abilities then what would have been this

BIG PREDATORS

Talking about wildlife one animal which we can’t skip is the lion. Even though for us they are extremely cruel animals, a very interesting fact is that they are the only social cats in this world. Isn’t it amazing? Just as we people do these extremely dangerous predators knows to live as a group. I had always watched these magnificent predators with great wonder .its really amazing to see these animals living in a pride under the leadership of a big male. Well the color of Africa is said to be the color of the lion. A lion may be called as the king of the jungle, but these animals find it extremely hard to outrun their prey. Their success depends on team work. Once I watched through the television a group of wild buffaloes attacking lions. Buffaloes are one of the lion’s favorite preys. This incident happened when a herd of buffaloes lead by a big male noticed some lionesses with young cubs lying in an open grass land .the lionesses knew that they were in danger and they had no option against this big herd other than to run away, but the young cubs hesitated and the buffaloes seized this opportunity and really squeezed those cubs to death with their horny heads. Buffaloes are not known for this type of behavior, may be they were taking revenge for what the lions had done to their calves when the lions had the advantage. In this case the buffaloes proved that they are also good opportunists. So even the king of the jungle is not safe from threats in the wild, but a big and healthy pride has fewer threats. Lions and hyenas are also big enemies. No adult lion will waste a chance to kill a hyena. I felt sorry for some young cheetah cubs when once I saw a lioness killing a few of them. It was not long before I understood that some lions make it as a habit killing cheetah cubs. The fastest but the weakest cheetah mother will not stand a chance against the powerful lion

ON MY FIRST BLOG

Dear friends. My name is Shabi BK and as u all know I’m someone who is very new to this field of blogging. But I am very keen that my first blog should be about something which i was really interested right from my childhood. It doesn’t mean that this is my only interest, but this is one among my great interests. That’s why i named it as WILD AND EXTREME.Infact it’s about life in the wild, how it can be peaceful and aggressive at the same time. I would like to share all my experiences and observations with u so that in that process u will also be entertained.Right from my younger days I use to have a lot of aquarium fishes and birds at my home .I used to share my experiences with these pets during talks with my friends. During my tenth standard time I had a lot of pigeons at my home and I spend a great deal of time caring for them. Luckily it didn’t affect my studies .now even after completing my engineering studies (to be frank there are some more papers left) I still have a big craze towards animals. An interesting fact is that my mother never liked any of these pets or animals. She always used to quarrel with me for spending time with them. For her it’s just a waste of time. But my father really liked these activities. my personal opinion to any one who don’t have pets at their home is to just buy a tank of aquarium fish and keep it inside your home so that u can experience that pleasant feeling which they give u when u take care of them and even for young children taking care of pets will grow in them a sense of responsibility.Although the name is given as wild and extreme I would like to talk about all kinds of pets and animals and other matters too
